社會在進步，2007年的物價上漲好快呀，轉眼2元的東西變成了4元，可是家里的收入還是依舊，這對于一個社會來說是件很普通的事，可是面對承擔風險很小的低收入的家庭來說這是雪上添霜。人人都知道物價上漲意味著很多的人要付出更多，對于我們這些大學生來說面臨的可能是退學或者休學
就在這樣的情況下，國家和學校對我們伸出援助之手。給予我們的直接是人民幣，這不緊緊是金錢，這更多的是代表國家和學校沒有忘記我們這些貧困的大學生，對于我們這樣的大學生學校和老師也是同樣的關注。因為有的時候我就會想到以前一個歷史教師給我說的話貧困的學生會被遺忘在教室的角落。真的有時候我都沒有膽量去面對老師，老師的熱情有的時候真的讓我感到害怕，有的時候是一種說不出的感覺。可是學校及老師們用他們的行動證明了他們關愛，我們是學校整體的一部分而不是被遺忘在角落的垃圾。
當然金錢意味著我家里可以少給我一點生活費，減輕家里的負擔。同時可以把以前一些擠擠的生活費中拿出一部分錢去買一些學習及相關的一些物品。說實在的，我都已經大三了可是我從來都沒有給爸爸媽媽買過一件禮物，因為父母給我的錢只是生活費，零用錢那是好家庭的孩子說的話。我都大三了我真的好想去買一件禮物送給他們，可是當我送去的時候卻是他們給我的錢，對于我這樣一個學習不太好的學生如果外出兼職的話成績更差。沒有辦法我只有等待，等待將來有一天我的有能力掙到錢了在去給他們買些禮物吧？可是學校給予的助學金使我改變了想法：我今年將給父母買件禮物過去，是青島非常易見的珊瑚。我要在今年過年的時候送給他們，因為他們曾經在電視上看見卻沒有真的看見過。我用的是學校給予的助學金購買，同時告訴他們國家和學校對于我們這些貧困大學生是關注的。
助學金的給予是給我們提供了極大的幫助，給予我的是一種說不出的勇氣，這種勇氣不是用言語說出來的，我有勇氣給我的父母買珊瑚了，不用擔心他們說是用自己的錢來給自己買東西了，同時我更有自信，我減少對生活費的憂愁。我可以安心地在教室里看書，我更有勇氣去和老師談談我關心的科學問題。同時我更有信心，我雖然成績不好，但是我可以通過學習來彌補這段差距，因為在我身邊還有很多關心和關注我們的老師，他們是熱情的，而不是我以前認為的那種冰冷的感覺。信心和勇氣我都堅信我將來一定能像其他同學一樣做個合格的大學生。
