Though, although 的倒裝句

一、名詞+as / though+主語+動詞

King as he was, he was unhappy. 他雖是國王，但他并不幸福。

Child as he is, he knows to help other. 他雖是個孩子，但卻知道幫助別人。

Teacher though he is, he can’t know everything. 他雖然是老師，但也不可能什么都懂。

【說明】其中的動詞通常為連系動詞，也就是說位于句首的名詞是其后連系動詞的表語。另外，要特別注意位于句首的名詞前習慣上不用冠詞，即使其前有形容詞修飾也不用冠詞。比較：

Boy as [though] he is, he likes to play with girls.=Though [Although] he is a boy, he likes to play with girls. 他雖是男孩，卻喜歡與女孩子玩。

Strong man as [though] he is, General Botha has been severely put to the test during the past few weeks.= Though [Although] he is a strong man, General Botha has been severely put to the test during the past few weeks. 波賽將軍雖然堅強，但在過去的數周里也受到了嚴峻的考驗。

二、形容詞+as / though+主語+動詞

Successful as he is, he is not proud. 他雖然成功，但不驕傲。

Improbable as it seems, it’s true. 雖然看起來不太可能，但卻是真的。

Stupid as it sounds，I was so in love with her that I believed her. 盡管聽起來很愚蠢，我是如此愛她竟然相信了她的話。

Patient as he was，he didn’t like waiting that long. 他雖說有耐心，也不愿等這么長。

Beautiful though the necklace was，we thought it was over-priced. 那條項鏈雖然很漂亮，我們認為價錢太高。

【說明】其中的動詞也通常為連系動詞，也就是說位于句首的形容詞是其后連系動詞的表語。

三、副詞+as / though+主語+動詞

Much as I like Paris, I couldn’t live there. 盡管我喜歡巴黎，但我不能住在那里。

Hard though they tried, they couldn’t make her change her mind. 盡管他們做了很大努力，卻沒法讓她改變主意。

Fast as you read, you can’t finish the book in two days. 盡管你讀得很快，你總不能在兩天之內就讀完這本書。

He was unable to make much progress, hard as he tried. 盡管他做了努力，卻未能取得很大進步。

【說明】有的詞典將much as 作為習語看待，認為它是一個用以引導讓步狀語從句的復合連詞。再如：

Much as I admire him as a writer，I do not like him as a man. 他作為一名作家我很佩服他，但我卻不喜歡他這個人。

Much as I like you, I couldn’t live with you. 我盡管很喜歡你, 卻不能和你在一起生活。

四、動詞原形+as / though+主語+動詞

Object as you may, I’ll go. 縱使你反對，我也要去。

Try as he might, he couldn’t solve the problem. 盡管他想方設法，卻未解決這個問題。

Search as they would, they would find nobody in the house. 無論怎樣搜查，他們在房子里仍然沒有找到一個人。

Dislike him as we may, we must acknowledge his greatness. 盡管我們不喜歡他，但必須承認他的偉大。

Lose money as I did, we got a lot of experience. 錢雖然丟了，我們卻得到了許多經驗。

Fail in the election as he did, he became famous for his fiery speech against slavery. 盡管落選了，但他卻以其反對奴隸制的激烈演說而出了名。

【說明】主語后的動詞通常為may, might, would, did 等情態動詞或助動詞(若表示情態意義，則選用情態動詞；若陳述事實，則用did, do 等助動詞)。

五、分詞+as / though+主語+動詞

Raining hard as it is, I’m going out for a walk. 雖然正在下著大雨，我還是要出去散步。

Surrounded as we were by the enemy, we managed to march forward. 雖然我們被敵人包圍著，但我們還是設法前進了。

Munching the apple as he was, he had got an eye for all John’s movements. 他盡管在一個勁地嚼著蘋果，但仍警惕著約翰的一舉一動。

【三條補充說明】

1. 這類倒裝的讓步狀語從句可用as, though 來引導，但不能用although來引導；但是，未倒裝的讓步狀語從句則可用though, although來引導，而不能用as來引導。也就是說，although引導讓步狀語從句時不能倒裝，as引導讓步狀語從句時必須倒裝，而though引導讓步狀語從句時可以倒裝也可以不倒裝。如：

雖然很晚了，但我們還是繼續工作。

正：Late as [though] it was, we still went on working.

正：Though [Although] it was late, we still went on working.

誤：Late although it was, we still went on working.

誤：As it was late, we still went on working.

2. 上面提到的倒裝結構有時也可用來表示原因，區別的辦法主要看句子的內容：讓步從句的內容大多數與主句在意義上相反，而原因從句則與主句之間有因果關系。比較：

Tired as he was, he sat up late studying at night. 昨晚他雖然很疲倦了，但還是學習到很晚才睡。(表讓步)

Tired as he was, he went to bed early. 因為很累，所以他睡得很早。(表原因)

Young as he was, he was equal to the task. 他雖年輕，卻能勝任這項工作。(表讓步)

Young as he was, he was not equal to the task. 他因為年輕，所以不能勝任這項工作。(表原因)

3. 在美國英語中，人們通常用as…as引導讓步狀語從句。如：

Cold as it was, we went out.=As cold as it was, we went out. 盡管天氣冷，我們還是出去了。

Successful as he is, he is not proud.=As successful as he is, he is not proud. 他雖成功了，但不驕

although與though的用法解析

1. although較正式，語氣強；though較常用。現代英語中兩者可隨意換用。如：

　　Though he was tired, he went on working. =Although he was tired, he went on working.

2. although和though引導的從句放在主句前后均可，有時還可放在句中。如：

　　He often helps me with my English (al)though he is quite busy. 盡管他相當忙，但是還常常幫我學英語。

　　Although many difficulties are still ahead, we are determined to make greater achievements. 盡管在前面的道路上還有許多困難，但是，我們決心要取得更大的成就。

3. although, though引導的從句不能與but, however連用，但可與yet, still連用。不能說：Though he was old, but he worked hard. 應把but去掉。當然，保留but而去Though也可。

4. though有時指假設的情況，不指事實，從句用虛擬語氣；although不能這樣用。如：

　　Einstein cared little for money, though he could have been very rich. 盡管愛因斯坦本可以成為非常富有的人，但他對金錢卻不感興趣。(though引導的情況是假設的而不是事實。）

　　He will never do such a thing though he (should) be forced to. 即使強迫他，他也決不會干這樣的事。（注意：不能用is）

5. though引導的從句，可用倒裝語序，即把從句中的表語或狀語放到though之前；although卻不能這樣用。如：

　 Young though she is, yet she is fit for the job. （=Young as she is, yet she is fit for the job.）盡管她很年輕，可她還是勝任這項工作的。

6. though從句的主謂語若是系表結構時，可以省略從句主語和be動詞。如：

　　Though alone, he is happy. 雖然他獨自一人，卻很幸福。

注意：Though loving him, I can not help him. 是錯句。因為從句不是be構成的系表結構作謂語。應改為：Though I love him, I can not help him. 或Though fond of him, I can not help him.

7. though還可與別的詞結合使用，如even though, as though等；although則無這種搭配功能。如：

　　I’ll go and help them even though I stop my work. 即使我停下自己的活不干，我也要去幫助他們。

8. though還可作并列連詞，相當于and yet（然而，可是），它引導的分句常對另一分句起補充說明作用；although則無這種用法。如：

　　I wouldn’t like to go to the evening, though they will invite me to. 我不想去參加晚會，可是他們要請我去。

　　They now can do most of the things people can do, though most scientists agree that computers can not completely take the place of humans. 人們能做的大部分工作，計算機現在都能做，然而大多數科學家認為，計算機并不能完全代替人類。

9. though可用作副詞，放在詞尾。although卻不可這樣用。如：

　　He said he would come, he didn’t, though. 他說要來卻沒來。

though的用法(3)

as if, as though的用法：

這兩個復合從屬連詞的用法和意義完全一樣，但as if 在當代英語中比 as though 普通得多。

As though 是書面語，比as 正式。

1）as if 引出的方式狀語從句所表示的情況是事實或具有很大可能性時，通常用直陳語氣。名子的謂語我為look, seem, taste, smell, sound等。如：

It looks as if they have succeeded in the experiment. 看來好像他們試驗成功了。

2) as if 引出的方式狀語從句所表示的情況不是事實，而是主觀想象或夸大性的比喻時，通常用虛擬語氣。從句中謂語動詞一般用過去時，be 動詞常用 were,但在現代英語中也常見到單數 was的情況。如：

The young man with long hair looks as if he were a girl. 這位滿頭長發的男青年看上去像個女的。

The injured man acted as if nothing had happened to him.這位受傷的男子表現得好像沒發生什么事一樣。

3）as if 引出的方式狀語從句，當主句謂語是過去時態時，從句謂語形式常常沒有什么特殊之處。如：

The lady felt as if she lost something. 這位女士好像學得丟了什么東西。

He was singing as though / if he hadn"t had / didn"t have a care in the world.他唱著歌，好像人世間他沒有憂慮。

4）as if 引導的同一從句中所用的時態不同，意思往往不同。請比較：

* The clown looks as if he were ill.那個小丑好像害病似的。（虛擬語氣）

● The clown looked as if he had been ill.那個小丑過去好像生過病。（過去生過病或虛擬語氣）

Whatever 和 no matter what的區別：

1whatever可用作連接詞或連接副詞，引導讓步狀語從句，表示“無論，不管”的意思。此時，可用no matter what結構來替換其意完全相同。位置前后置都可以。

2whatever還可以引導名詞性從句，同時起先行詞和關系代詞的作用。相當于anything that或all that，有任何一切這類意思。此時不能用no matter what替換。

3what和ever分開寫，則作“到底，究竟”解，這時它和on earth, in the world相同，起強調作用。e.g. What ever do you mean? = What do you mean on earth?

4what也可以引導名詞性從句意為“the thing which”與“whatever”含義相同。

5用法完全與whatever相同的詞還有whichever,whoever.

AS 和我 with 的區別。

as是連接詞，后面要加句子。而with是介詞，后面加名詞短語。又如：

WIth the quick passage of time,we found it time to say goodbye to each other.

==As time passed quickly,we found it time to say goodbye to each other.

=== With time passing quickly,we found it time to say goodbye to each other.

being在這里只是一個現在的狀態

having been 已經保持現在這個狀態很久了

而人只有一年是110歲，如果一個人三年都是110歲，那就能用having been

Although---conj.盡管；雖然；但是；然而

Though----conj.雖然，盡管；即使；縱然

adv.可是，但是；不過；然而；話雖這樣說

prep.但

1.?用作連詞although較正式，語氣強；though較常用，兩者可隨意換用。如：Though/Although ?he?was?tired,?he?went?on?working.?

Though?/Although?it?was?raining，we?went?there.?雖然下著雨，但我們還是去了那兒。

?Though/Although?it?was?barely?four?o’clock,?the?lights?were?already?on.?盡管才四點鐘，燈已經亮了。?

even though和even if兩者均可用于引導讓步狀語從句，區別是：

1. even if 引導的從句是往往是假設性的，相當于漢語的“即使”“縱然”“就算”“哪怕”。如：

They’ll stand by you even if you don’t succeed. 即使你不成功，他們也會支持你。

正因為even if從句的內容通常是假設性的，所以有時還可用于虛擬語氣；這樣用的even if 與單獨使用的if比較接近。如：

Even if he had the money, he wouldn’t buy it. 他即使有錢也不會買它。

2. even though 引導的從句內容往往是真實的，主要用于引出不利用于主句情況的信息，相當于漢語的“盡管”“雖然”。如：

He went out even though it was raining. 盡管在下雨，他還是出去了。

Even though it’s hard work, I enjoy it. 雖然工作艱苦，我還是很喜歡。

3.表達真實條件時even though與though或although的意思比較接近，許多時候可以互換。如：

Even though [Thought, Although] I felt sorry for him, l was secretly pleased tha t he was having difficulties. 雖然我為他感到惋惜，但對他的困難卻暗自高興。

Even though [Thought, Although] we all tried our best, we lost the game. 雖然我們已盡了最大的力量，但還是輸了。

4. 有時even if與even though可不混用。如：

Even if /Even though she laughs at him, he likes her. 盡管她嘲笑他，他還是很喜歡她。

We thoroughly understand each other, even if [even though] we don’t always agree. 我們彼此非常了解，雖然有時候也有一些分歧。.

although與though的區別和用法

一、 用作連詞

表示雖然”兩者大致同義，可換用，只是 although比though更為正式：

Though [Although] it was raining ，we went there.雖然下著雨，但我們還是去了那兒。

Though [Although] it was barely four o " clock, the lights were 盡管才四點.鐘，燈

已經亮了。

Though [Although] we are poor, we are still happy. 我們雖然窮，仍然很快活。

二、 用作副詞

although 一般不用作副詞，而 though可用作副詞，且一般放在句末 （不放在句首），意

為可是”、不過”

You can count on him, though. 不過你可以指靠他。

三、 用于習語

在as though（好像，仿佛），even though（即使，縱然）等固定短語中不能用 although :

的。

四、 用于倒裝

though引導的讓步狀語從句可用部分倒裝的形式 （注意：倒裝后位于句首的名詞之前不

用冠詞），但although 一般不這樣用：

Poor though I am, I can afford it.我雖窮，但這東西還是買得起的。

Child though he was, he did quite well.他雖是孩子，但干得很好。

五、though 放在句尾相當于 however, nevertheless

but, however, still, nevertheless, yet

but, however, still, nevertheless, yet這是幾個詞義很近的同義詞，都表示轉折或讓步。

but用來引出微弱的相反的意見，是口語常用詞。
