Some people believe that economic development should never be at the cost of the environment.They think the present serious environmental problems are largely caused by rapid?economicdevelopment.Forexample,land resources are shrinking because of the industrial development and the expansion of cities.Deserts are spreading because of over grazing,poorfanning,treecutting,and strip mining.Our air and water supplies are being polluted by poisonous gassesand waste products.It is important,therefore,that we should take another look at the way in which our industries and cities are developing.

Moral decline will not be reversed(扭轉)until we find new ways to improve our moral standards. For adults, we can make use of every chance to remind young people of the importance of good manners, both as a competent citizen(合格公民) in modern society and as a model for them to follow. Only in this way can the moral climate of our nation be improved, and we sincerely wish that the young man in the picture could realize that he has sit on a “wrong” seat.

But exercise can do some harm to those people who can not plan their activities properly. Too hard training may hurt their bodies, make them tired, and even cause them to be sick.

According to a survey, in recent years the monthly expenditure of a college student has been on the sharp rise. Many college students have no concept of thrift in their mind. They take it for granted that they spend money from their parents before they enter into the society. This extravagant spending is primarily caused by the following factors.
First of all, nowadays most of the students are the only children of their families. They are the apple in their family’s eyes and naturally get more care and pocket money. In addition, with the improvement of living standards, parents can afford higher expenditure of their children. Moreover, some students like to pursue fashion and trends, which tend to need more money. Finally, campus love is also a possible factor causing extravagant spending.
From my point of view, a college student, as a pure consumer, should learn to be thrifty. We should limit our expenditure on daily necessities but not buy whatever we want regardless of their prices. The habit of thrift can help us form right values and is favorable to our future development.

As for me, I prefer to the latter opinion.

The following reasons can support my view. First and foremost, TV PK shows breed restlessness and induce young people to hunt after fame at whatever cost. They cling to the idea that attending the PK shows is a shortcut to success, so they may despise the way of achieving success by hard work. Finally, if the young fail in these shows, they will suffer a psychological unbalance.

But exercise can do some harm to those people who can not plan their activities properly. Too hard training may hurt their bodies, make them tired, and even cause them to be sick.

Eating habits are closely related to health. In order to keep fit, we should pay more attention to our eating habits. My suggestions for a good eating habit are as follows:
First, don’t eat too much or too little for each meal. Eating too much will cause overweight and eating too little, malnutrition.
Second, don’t eat between meals. Sometimes we like eating biscuits and chips before the mealtime; as a result, we lose our appetite for lunch or dinner.
Third, eat more vegetables and fruits everyday.
In short, a good eating habit leads to a healthy life.

Are you afraid of stress? Today I want to talk about stress. Let me share my opinion with you. Some people regard stress as a bad thing. They are terrified of stress. But other people think stress is a good thing for them. In my eyes, I’ll receive them as a gift. At first, stress encourages me a lot. It seems to tell me I have to work hard. Briefly, college life differs from high school life in three ways.
First, in middle school, we did not live on campus, but at college, we have to live on it. Next, in high school our teachers showed us how to solve every problem. At college, however, we are left to solve problems by ourselves. Finally, since we didn"t live on campus in high school, it was usually easy to keep a friendly relationship with our classmates. Yet, at college, as we live and study together, there must be some disagreement in opinions, life styles, etc. So we have to learn to get on well with each other.
Although I often recall my high school, I like college life more.

篇二： Double Ninth Festival
The 9th day of the 9th lunar month is the traditional Chongyang Festival, or Double Ninth Festival. It usually falls in October in the Gregorian calendar. In an ancient and mysterious book Yi Jing, or The Book of Changes, number “6” was thought to be of Yin character, meaning feminine or negative, while number “9” was thought to be Yang, meaning masculine or positive. So the number nine in both month and day create the Double Ninth Festival, or Chongyang Festival. Chong in Chinese means “double.” Also, as double ninth was pronounced the same as the word to signify “forever”, both are “Jiu Jiu,” the Chinese ancestors considered it an auspicious day worth celebration. That’s why ancient Chinese began to celebrate this festival long time ago.
The custom of ascending a height to avoid epidemics was passed down from long time ago. Therefore, the Double Ninth Festival is also called “Height Ascending Festival”. The height people will reach is usually a mountain or a tower. Ancient literary figures have left many poems depicting the activity. Even today, people still swarm to famous or little known mountains on this day.
On this day, people will eat Double Ninth Gao （or Cake）。 In Chinese, gao （cake） has the same pronunciation with gao （height）。 People do so just to hope progress in everything they are engaged in. There is no fixed ways for the Double Ninth Cake, but super cakes will have as many as nine layers, looking like a tower.
The Double Ninth Festival is also a time when chrysanthemum blooms. China boasts diversified species of chrysanthemum and people have loved them since ancient times. So enjoying the flourishing chrysanthemum also becomes a key activity on this festival. Also, people will drink chrysanthemum wine. Women used to stick such a flower into their hair or hang its branches on windows or doors to avoid evilness.
In 1989, the Chinese government decided the Double Ninth Festival as Seniors’ Day. Since then, all government units, organizations and streets communities will organize an autumn trip each year for those who have retired from their posts. At the waterside or on the mountains, the seniors will find themselves merged into nature. Younger generations will bring elder ones to suburban areas or send gifts to them on this day.
