He was a failure in art. he has been always about to paint a masterpiece, but had never begun it. Actually, in this old man"s feeling inside, he earnestly wanted to save this poor and young girl. He panited the last vivid and lovely leaf throughout a dreadful night. Finally, this materpiece has been completed, and Johnsy kindled the life fire again. However, Mr. Behame died of the Pneumonia.

　　《綠野仙蹤》說的是美麗善良的小姑娘多羅茜，被一場龍卷風刮到了一個陌生而神奇的國度——奧茲國。在那里，她陸續結識了稻草人、鐵樵夫和膽小獅，他們為了實現各自的心愿，互相幫助，攜手協作，歷盡艱險，遇到許多稀奇古怪的事情。最后，他們憑借自己非凡的智慧和頑強的毅力，都如愿以償。

　　《綠野仙蹤》吸引我的不僅是它扣人心弦的故事情節，還給我帶來了許多啟迪，其中最重要的一點是：每個人都有自己的優點和缺點，給自己以信心和希望。書中的稻草人希望擁有一顆智慧的頭腦；鐵樵夫希望自己有一顆跳動的心臟；膽小獅希望自己擁有勇氣和膽量。他們在各自的經歷中都實現了自己的心愿。

So I read these stories again and again. Finally,I learnt many new word.I felt very excited. My English is very poor in the past, through reading , my marks has been largely improved.

In this book, there a module introduces traditional life in the UK. The traditional life in China is different from that in the UK. For example,In China,we should not give a top to a waiter in a restaurant. But in England you must do it. I learnt so much knowledge by reading. Maybe I will use them when I go to England in the future, I will get well with everyone in England. Then I will introduce the Chinese culture to them.

This book also introduces a lot of famous cities ,such as Beijing,Oxford,London and so on. Londn is my dream city. It is a wonderful and old city. There are many places of interest in London . 　　《淘氣包埃米爾》是一部有趣而搞笑的小說，它的幽默風趣，讓我一口氣讀到了第11月。

　　主人公埃米爾是一個天性好動并且非常頑皮的小淘氣包，他的腦子里有許多的鬼點子；小伊達，是埃米爾的妹妹，她也是一個活潑可愛的小天使；還有可親的爸爸、慈愛的心靈手巧的媽媽，一個勤勞的長工和一個愚笨的女傭。他們生活在倫納貝亞村的卡爾胡特莊園里。

　　故事的情節是這樣的。一天，他們的午餐里有肉湯，埃米爾最喜歡喝肉湯了，肉湯是盛在一個刻著精美圖案的陶瓷罐里，肉湯差不多都喝完了，只剩下罐底的一點湯了。于是，埃米爾便把頭鉆到了罐子里舔完了剩余的湯，正當埃米爾想把頭伸出來時，罐口卡住了埃米爾的頭，大家使盡了所有法子，但還是怎么也拿不出來，沒辦法，只好去醫生那里。到了醫生那，醫生說了聲“你好”，埃米爾也向醫生鞠了個躬，誰知剛鞠下去，“呯”罐子變成了兩瓣。原來埃米爾彎下腰的時候，頭撞到了桌子上，醫生開玩笑說還賺了一克朗，爸爸為了獎勵埃米爾，便給了他五厄爾銅幣。回家的路上，被頑皮的埃米爾吞進了肚子里還說：“啊呀，滑得這么快！”看到這里，我笑得上氣不接下氣。無可奈何之下，只好再去醫生那里，醫生說：“只要吃五個面包，過幾天就會自己出來的。”讀到這里，我笑得肚子都疼了。回到家，爸爸把破了的罐子粘合上，放在桌子上。晚上，妹妹問埃米爾：“你是怎么把罐子套到頭上去呀？”“很簡單。”埃米爾說完，便輕而易舉地把罐子套到了頭上。這下又麻煩了，罐子又一次被卡在了頭上拿不下來了。媽媽看見了，只好把它砸碎了。

the novel portrayed the real condition of working horses living in britain during the victorian era. in that time period, the wealthy thought that their horses were treated well because they never stepped into the stable. in order to call people’s attention to horses’ hard life, sewell tells the story through the first-person narrative voice of a horse. this innovative personification of an animal made the book a real success. readers heard the stories straight from the horse’s mouth, literally, as an animal spoke of extremes of joy and suffering. people were shocked by the truth exposed by the novel and changed their attitudes towards animals.

the novel is told in the form of an extended flashback. after a visit to his strange landlord, a newcomer to the area desires to know the history of the family--which he receives from nelly deans, a servant who introduces us to the earnshaw family who once resided in the house known as wuthering heights. it was once a cheerful place, but old earnshaw adopted a gipsy child who he named heathcliff. and catherine,daughter of the house, found in him the perfect companion:wild, rude, and as proud and cruel as she. but although catherine loves him, even recognizes him as her soulmate, she cannot lower herself to marry so far below her social station. she instead marries another, and in so doing sets in motion an obsession that will destroy them all.
wuthering heights is a bit difficult to get into; the opening chapters are so dark in their portrait of the end result of this obsessive love that they are somewhat off-putting. but they feed into the flow of the work in a remarkable way, setting the stage for one of the most remarkable structures in all of literature, a story that circles upon itself in a series of repetitions as it plays out across two generations. catherine and heathcliff are equally remarkable, both vicious and cruel, and yet never able to shed their impossible love no matter how brutally one may wound the other.

Despite I’ve not in my childhood yet, I still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. The tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. This summer I’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. It’s the world-famous fairy-tale by the French author, Antoine de St-Exupery, The Little Prince.
As many other fairy-tales, the outline of The Little Prince is not very complex. “I”, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the Sahara. In this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the Asteroid B612. The little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. In that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.
On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. Following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the Sahara, on the earth.
Traveling on the earth, the little prince, who sees a garden of five-thousand roses, is overcome with astonishment and sadness, as he considers his rose is unique in the universe before. At that time a fox appears. The fox, who tell the little prince about the meaning of the word “tame”, becomes his new friend. At the time to say farewell, the fox makes him know that his rose is unique because she is his rose and tamed by him. From that the little prince begins to treasure friendship and be responsible to his rose.
At the anniversary day of his descent of the earth, rejecting the pilot’s advice, he goes back to his own planet by bite of a snake. “It’s too far. I can not carry this body with me. It’s too heavy.” he said. He tells his friend, the pilot, he must be responsible for his rose, so he has to go back. At the end the author doesn’t tell us the ending directly. Maybe it’s more significant for us to imagine, and for more, think over.
One of the important characters is the rose. Growing on the planet, she is very beautiful, but her coquetry and vanity suffer the little prince a lot. In spite of they love each other, he soon becomes unhappy. On the time of his departure, he just knows she certainly loves him. The character of the little prince actually represents the children, and their native thoughts and deeds. On the contrary, the inhabitants on the other planets, such as the king, the businessman and the conceited man, they also reflect the defects in the grown-up’s world. The real theme of this fairy-tale with a little sadness, I guess, is the consequence of pure love and friendship in our lives, but not others “matters of consequence” of the grown-ups.
Unbelievable, this little book moved me a lot. I seldom think about the true meaning of love and life before. Well, now I can say, with my short sixteen-year’s life experience, it’s like the stars in the sky that lit my heart. The little prince is not only an ordinary fairy-tale for children, but also for grown-ups, and our teenagers. Nevertheless, when I read this book, I feel a little sad – about ourselves, whom are losing more and more innocence

Alice"s Adventures in Wonderland

A girl named Alice is bored while on a picnic with her older sister. She finds interest in a passing white rabbit, dressed in a waistcoat and muttering "I"m late!", whom she follows down a rabbit-hole, floating （滑）down into a dream underworld of paradox, the absurd （荒謬的）and the improbable. As she attempts to follow the rabbit, she has several misadventures. She grows to gigantic size and shrinks （縮小）to a fraction of her original height; meets a group of small animals stranded in a sea of her own previously shed （流下）tears; gets trapped （陷阱）in the rabbit"s house when she enlarges herself again; meets a baby which changes into a pig, and a cat which disappears leaving only his smile behind; goes to a never-ending tea party; plays a bizarre （古怪的）variation （變化）on croquet （槌球） with an anthropomorphized (人格化) deck of cards; goes to the shore and meets a Gryphon and a Mock Turtle; and finally attends the courtroom （審判室）trial （審問）of the Knave of Hearts, who has been accused of stealing some tarts （餡餅）. Eventually Alice wakes up underneath a tree back with her sister.

The long grass rustled at her feet as the White Rabbit hurried by--the frightened Mouse splashed his way through the neighboring pool--she could hear the rattle of the teacups as the March Hare and his friends shared their never-ending meal, and the shrill voice of the Queen ordering off her unfortunate guests to execution--once more the pig-baby was sneezing on the Duchess"s knee, while plates and dishes crashed around it—once more the shriek of the Gryphon, the squeaking of the Lizard"s slate-pencil, and the choking of the suppressed guinea-pigs ,filled the air, mixed up with the distant sobs of the miserable Mock Turtle. So she sat on, with closed eyes, and half believed herself in Wonderland, though she knew she had but to open them again, and all would change to dull reality--the grass would be only rustling in the wind, and the pool rippling to the waving of the reeds--the rattling teacups would change to tinkling sheep-bells, and the Queen"s shrill cries to the voice of the shepherd boy--and the sneeze of the baby, the shriek of the Gryphon, and all thy other queer noises, would change (she knew) to the confused clam our of the busy farm-yard--while the lowing of the cattle in the distance would take the place of the Mock Turtle"s heavy sobs. Lastly, she pictured to herself how this same little sister of hers would, in the after-time, be herself a grown woman; and how she would keep, through all her riper years, the simple and loving he art of her childhood: and how she would gather about her other little children, and make THEIR eyes bright and eager with many a strange tale, perhaps even with the dream of Wonderland of long ago: and how she would feel with all their simple sorrows, and find a pleasure in all their simple joys, remembering her own child-life, and the happy summer days.

After reading this novel, I was moved by Jane Eyre, who has a strong-mind and is very brave. Frankly?speaking,?I feel very sympathy for her at the beginning. However, on closer reflection and analysis, it was what she had gone through that had made her the special character. Without these sorrowful experiences, Jane was not Jane that we respect and like anymore. I?have?appreciated?all?words?and?thoughts?of?Jane’s?in?her?hard?time. She?says,?“I?am?poor,?mean,?is?not?beautiful,?diminutive,?I?do?not?have?the?soul?not?to?have?the?heart??You?were?wrong!?When?we?pass?through?the?grave,?stands?in?front?of?the?God?heel,?is?equal?because?we?are?equal!” In her opinion, all men are created equal.?Though she was not a beauty, she was poor, she doesn’t feel self-conscious. On the contrary, she looked down upon the dignitary. She thought they’re very stupid. One thing I appreciate her most is she never bows to life.

The novel tells us, one of the most beautiful things in our life is the dignity and love. The ending of the novel arranged this life for the heroine. Although I think this ending is too perfect. But I still respect the writer’s ideal of the good life--dignity and love. After all, in today"s society, people seem to crazy enough to bury love for the money and status. Few people like Jane to leave all for love and personality.

A lice fought them and then she waked up. She just made a dream.

The story is funny and excited. It has an interesting end---Alice just had a dream. Maybe someone would think that its not only a dream, but also a true story. But I think it is only a dream. Alice is a strange girl who has many interesting things. I like her.

Paper, Alice, has a bright fairy tales, lively and innocent, like fantasy, love brains, full of curiosity. No ghost of a trace of her a kind of innocence. It is this innocence, before starting to read this story in another interesting, very exciting.

中國，我咀嚼著這個字眼，左胸膛那個跳動的地方，有一種驕傲的感覺。抬頭，窗上貼著的國旗，愈發鮮亮。

記得聽一位講師說過一段話：別人不會因為你一個人去尊重你，而是因為你身后有十三億中國人民，有一個強大的中華人民共和國去尊重你。鏗鏘有力的一段話，震撼人心。中國，一個泱泱大國，優秀的五千年文明，讓我們的土地被喚作禮儀之邦。中國人的文明，創造了些許奇跡，創造了世人嘆為觀止的奇跡。

國旗，國之旗幟。有人說，那片紅是烈士的鮮血換來的，那五顆星，那么醒目，那么耀眼，是那么美麗。

曾聽過這么一篇報道，在一次國際會議中，各國用國旗標位置。照相后，只有我們中國的領導人彎腰將我們的五星紅旗揀起，小心的放進口袋。一個小小的動作，一件微乎其微的事情，我們的國旗被如此的保護，被如此的珍重！

中國夢，并沒有明確的定義，每個人心中飄揚著五星紅旗，用理智的方法愛國；每個人都可以用對待親人的態度對待他人；每個人都可以盡自己的能力讓中國的明天更美好。這便是我的中國夢。

"Gone with the Wind" is absolutely a good book that is worth sampling repeatedly, the characters are graceful , the plot rises and falls, exciting boldly and unconstrainedly, though the subjective factor because of the author among them , the appraisal on U.S.A."s Civil War is not objective and overall, but as to angle of literature, this one fine piece of writing generation definitely absolutely, worth visiting.

Despite I ve not in my childhood yet, I still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. the tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. This summer I ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. It s the world-famous fairy-tale by the French author, Antoine de St-Exupery, The Little Prince.

As many other fairy-tales, the outline of The Little Prince is not very complex. I , the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the Sahara. In this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the Asteroid B612. The little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. In that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.

On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. Following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the Sahara, on the earth.

I felt that I was deeply fascinated by it soon after I had read it.

I first read it in a summer. I did not finish it at a single sitting. However, the moment I finished it, near midnight in a sweltering August day, with my body poured with sweat, held my breath to turn the last page over, shut the book and heaved a sigh of relief, I just could not express how I felt. All were over: trouble was over; lives were over; hopes were over. I was shocked how such a small book could contain such a complicated story. Never were wars, diseases and starvation ever nakedly exposed to me like this. The turns in plots were surprising but natural.

It was a tragedy: Just as its name suggested, everything was gone with the wind, including families touch, friends support, sweethearts gaze and youth with vigour. The story reminds us of valuing all we were possessing. A life lasts for a short time and anything in it lasts shorter. We always lose something unconsciously and then feel regretful when we need them later.

Characters in the story were so vivid as if they had been going to jump out of the story, as if they had been existed in the real life at first.

Land is the only thing in the world that amounts to anything, for this the only thing in this world that lasts, and don t you be forgetting it this the only thing worth working for, worth fighting for worth dying for. Said Gerald, an Irish man who loved his soil more than his own life, let us know that life can be born out of land.

But Scarlett, did it ever occur to you that even the most deathless love could wear out? Mine wore out, against Ashley Wilkes and your insane obstinacy that makes you hold on like a bulldog to anything you think about.

Scarlett, I was never one to patient pick up broken fragment glue them together and tell myself that the mended whole was as good as new. What is broken is broken and I d rather remember it as it was at its best than mend it and see the broken places as long as I lived. Said Rett Butler, a man who love Scalett as much as a man can love a woman. Loving her for years before he finally got her, he loved her crazily but did not let her know it for fear of being hurt. But at last he still could not escape from hurts. My dear, I don t give a damn. Look, he did not care about it at all. He was a man who disguised himself so much.

I mustn t bawl; I mustn t beg. I mustn t do anything risk his contempt. He must respect me even even if he doesn t love me.

I ll think of it all tomorrow, at Tara. I can stand it then. Tomorrow, I ll think some way to get him back. After all, tomorrow is another day.

Said Scalett O hara, the most wonderful woman I ve ever seen. She was hard and greedy and unscrupulous, a brave, frightened, bull-headed child. Though she only thought about how to attract man s attention and did not do anything useful before the war, she did surprise me when I read about her doings after the war. At that time, her Tara was just reduced to ashes. Everyone sketched out their hands and asked her for food. She bravely faced the reality and rebuilt Tara with her own hands. What a tough woman, I thought. Though those she loved were all gone, she was still full of hope. When Rett didn t love her anymore and wanted to leave her, she said I mustn t bawl even if he doesn t love me. A woman s dignity could be seen from what she have said and done. That s why I appreciate her.

This novel gave me too much to think about and I can not fully express myself in English. It is true that reading an origin is more vivid than the translated ones. However, my English level limits me to understand the origin well without the translated. But I will work hard in order to understand better.

The novel is my treasure, forever, because I find myself in Scarlett and find the world I live in inside the story.

That s really an excellent novel, with an ending from which you can see hope rising from despair.

Gone with the Wind, an American romantic novel written by Margaret Mitchell is a reflection of the civil war. What impresses us most is the spirit of a rebellious Georgia woman named Scarlett O"Hara and her travails with friends, family and lovers in the midst of the antebellum South, the American Civil War, and the Reconstruction period. It also tells the story of love that blossoms between Scarlett O"Hara and Rhett Butler.

This is really a kind of moving story. Someone said that the most classic scene in the novel was that when Scarlett returned her ruined home, holding the earth in her hand, she promised that no matter to steal or to rob she would never allow her family to starve. However, I would rather to chose this, the most beautiful sentence in the book, tomorrow is another day. What is called love, and what is called hate? Love and hate can like two lines which will never intersect , but a piece of sunshine can melt them. Only when people lose something they come to know how much precious it is. If you shad tears when you miss the sun, you also miss the stars , Tagore said this. You should learn to let something go ,because , tomorrow is another day.

One of my friends had recommended the book Gone with the Wind almost two years ago, but my reading plan was just put off, for the book is really too thick and I even no courage to start. However, this semester I made my mind to read and I found myself was totally lost in the absorbing plots and the attractive characters the author portrayed. I was impressed by the war, the love and the hero Scarlett O Hara, who would also be a charming and successful woman in today s modern society, I think.

Scarlett is a dark-haired, green-eyed Georgia belle who struggles through the hardship of the Civil War and Reconstruction. She exhibits more of her father s hard-headedness than her mother s refined southern manners. Determination defines Scarlett and drives her to achieve everything she desires by any means necessary.

1. pursuing her love bravely

Scarlett aims to win Ashley Wilkes, and her failure to do so guides the plot of the novel. Ashley s marriage to Melanie and rejection of Scarlett drive nearly all of Scarlett s important subsequence decisions. Scarlett marries Charles Hamilton to hurt Ashley, stays by Melanie s side through the war because she promise Ashley she will, and loses her true love, Rhett butler, because of her persistent desire to win Ashley. Without hesitation for pursuing her love, she is a little blind to love. However, her courage is inspiring. After all, love always makes people lose sense.

2. facing the war fearfully

On the night the Yankees capture Atlanta and set it afire, Scarlett drives the cart all night and day through a dangerous forest full of deserters and soldiers, at last reaching Tara. She arrives to find that her mother, Ellen, is dead; her father, Gerald, has lost his mind; and the Yankee army has looted the plantation, leaving no food or cotton. Scavenging for subsistence desperately, Scarlett vows never to go hungry again. Scarlett takes charge of rebuilding Tara. She murders a Yankee thief and puts out a fire set by a spiteful Yankee soldier. What a great girl she is! Instead of feeling afraid and waiting for others to help her, she bears the burden of rebuilding the Tara by herself. I admire her so much; for I have the same belief---- heaven helps those who help themselves!

3. gifted in business

When Scarlett takes advantage of Frank s immobility, going to the store to see the account books, she quickly realizes that frank runs the business badly his friends owe him vast sums of money that he is too embarrassed to collect. Scarlett thinks she could do a much better job in strictly male world of business and begins to think of acquiring a sawmill. Devoting all her time to the mill and turning a sizeable profit by any means necessary, she becomes the only successful businesswoman in Atlanta. In that age, it is really a big challenge for women and she has the confidence and courage to challenge it.

Scarlett s development precisely mirrors the development of the American s south. She changes from spoiled teenage to hard-working widow to wealthy opportunist, reflecting the south s change from leisure society to besieged nation to compromised survivor. As selfish she is, her bravery and strong mind towards love and war really impress me a lot. When there is barrier, even disasters come, we can feel depressed or afraid, but never give up.

It is really a wonderful novel which worth being chewed!

Recently,I have just finished reading a famous novel written by Margaret mitchellGone with the Wind，which is one of the most popular works among American novels.It took the auther about 10 years to finish this great novel,the only novel in her life.

The story happened during the Civil War eve.Scarlett O Hara,a 16-year-old girl,who was living in Tala manor in Georgia,was loving her neighbor Ashley Wilkes.However,after the war have broken out, Ashley Wilkes married his yonger cousin Melanie. Scarlett was so angry that she decided to marry a man she didn t really love---- Charles Hamilton.Not long after that, Charles Hamilton joined the Army and died of illness in the war.So Scarlett had to act as a widow.Afterwards,at a donating dance party,Scarlett is acquainted with a captain named Rhett Butler. Then the flames of war approached Atlanta.Everyone was busy leaving away from the war.Scarlett managed to escape from Atlanta with the help of captain Rhett.

Having come back to Tala manor,Scarlett made up her mind to rally her homeland at any cost when she saw that the former manor had been ruined.Later,her second husband died in the fight,she was a widow again.Durling that time, Rhett had been loving Scarlett sincerely and warmly.Seeing that Rhett could help her rally the manor,Scarlett married him.Although Rhett had similar characteristic attracting her,Scarlett still loved Ashley.Later,their only daughter died accidently,Rhett left Scarlett sorrowly.And then Scarlett realized that Rhett was the only one who could fall in love with her.

The novel takes the US Civil War as the background.It takes Scarlett s individual activity as the thread.The book show us a tragic love story .A couple who could have a perfect future,but finnally go in opposite direction.As a matter of fact,their charactristics have decided their tragic result inevitably.We feel sorry about the end because we are looking forward to a perfect end,just like Scarlett and Rhett.In fact,ferfect is always a excessive damand.

I affirm Rhett.He brings excitement to Scarlett s life and encourages her impulse to change and succeed.Like Scarlett,he goes after what he wants and refuses to take no for an answer.He is humorous,intelligent and cynical with a hint of treason.He is really a respectable man.I think he finnally left because of love .Otherwise,he couldn t have gone without hesitation.

Ashley Wilkes is the foil to Rhett s dark, realistic opportunism.If there was no Civil War,he is surely a nobility of grace and charm.But history cannot be changed.He bocame a victim of the war.His era was gone with the defeat of the war.At the same time,we cannot deny the fact that he had a chear understanding about reality,which just contribute to his tragedy.

In this book,what I appreciate most is not Melanie skindness or Rheet s dedication and patience,but Scarlett s courage to throw her long-standing morality and tradition whe faced with diffiiculties.At the beginning of the war,she didn t care about this.In her world are endless dinner parties and dance parties.In her body are her father s brave Irish blood and her mother s noble French pure blood.She had a vast farm as her home.She had hundreds of slaves.This is Scarlett.,a member of noblity,proud and different.However,the war changed everything.Her mother died of illness.Her father become silent and the farm was nearly deserted.Even food became a big problem.All the pressure was put on Scarlett s shoulder.She must feed a family of 9 people in it.What a big difference of level.If all this happened to someone else,he or she may choose to escape.On the contrary,Scarlett choose to face the change of life bravely.How can we not admire her courage of to change herself.Life is like a mountain.The road can t be completely smooth.When we fall down from the peak,we may get hert ,we may get disappointed,we may feel despair.But if you want to survive,you must stand up to face it.

It is obvious that 《Gone with the wind》 is really a good book,even if a long time has passed away,it is still suitable for today s society.It is of great importance to change ourselves,change our value even our thoughts when our life chages.

On the other hand,I think there is no real perfect in the world.Everybody has his shortcomings.It is necessary for us to learn to forgive others faults.If we keep good-tempered,Ibelieve there will be more comedy and less tragedy.
